My daughter had jaw surgery in December and her jaw was wired shut for 6 weeks. She did vomit once after, probably from the pain meds. She was so scared by it she slept in my bed for two days after she puked in case it happened again. She also refused anything more than Tylenol after the vomit incident. I had my jaw wire shut for several weeks. No one gave me wire cutters or explained anything about vomitting to me. It's possible they did but I was so hopped up on morphine and oxy that I just plumb forgot. I never did vomit. Eating liquified everything through a syringe was fun. I think these people might have had a better doctor than me. I was doing some further research because I was curious and I read an article recommending you not to cut them just for vomiting if you aren’t choking. I now know the correct method of bending over and allowing the vomit to run out of your nose and between your teeth. Oh and in winter/summer because there isn't a lot of tissue between the metal plates and open air it's more prone to temp changes so it aches like crazy during sharp temp changes.
